Due to the nature of printmaking, there are slight variations between each print. I let myself experiment a bit so there is variation in the green edition where I played with gradients vs flat colors for the chick’s pink face. There are some speckles of ink on the margins of some prints, but they don’t detract from the piece as they are only visible very close up.
Colors may vary depending on your screen. The paper is a creamy off-white, and the inks are a lovely balance of natural and vibrant colors.
Each print is shipped with a sturdy backer and protective packaging to ensure it arrives safely. _______________ This limited edition print features the Eared Grebe (also known as the Black Necked Grebe). I see them around the sloughs, diving away when I come too close. Their chicks are adorable, and I wanted to showcase how they carry them on their back to keep them safe.
I put a lot of time into developing a simple yet graceful composition, and printed this edition in a small batch so that I could put the necessary care into each one. Due to the nature of reduction printmaking, no more prints can be made since the block was destroyed in the printing process.
